The Peculiar Platypus The Peculiar Platypus

Publisher Description

Warra lived in the Lachlan area. He was part of the Wiradjuri Nation. Warra was only 8 years old and all of the older boys always pushed him around. He wanted to prove that he could be helpful too. He has an accident and almost drowns but is saved by a giant Platypus – his Wiradjuri totem. Is it a dream?

The Tools, Totems & Tucker Enviro-Stories program was run with students from across the central west and tableland regions of New South Wales in 2014. These students were given the opportunity to learn about traditional Aboriginal culture from local experts and their teachers. Students used what they learnt to create stories about Aboriginal culture and how this culture was used in the past and in current times. There have been ten books produced as part of this program.
