The Promised Land

A short story that gives an alternate history to Sir Walter Raleigh's landing in America. Where feasible, historical accuracy has been preserved; where not feasible, it has been irreparably twisted.

Harry Harrison (Nebula award winner) challenged me (the author) to write an alternate history short story. It's true that we had both imbibed too many ports; nevertheless, "The Promised Land" was the result. He found it amusing.
