This chapter will provide information on how treaties are fundamental to Canadian history and outline obligations and responsibilities between the Crown and First Nations people, and were intended to guide a nation-to-nation relationship. Treaties were undertaken in the spirit of peaceful co-existence and mutual respect by First Nation with the Crown. There are both historic and modern treaties between First Nations and the Crown.
