Twelve Lords, Twelve Great Christmas Stories
This holiday anthology is packed fuller than a stocking with regency Christmas cheer! Perfect with a cup of cocoa, a warm blanket and some snuggly socks, these stories are full of feisty ladies, (mostly) honorable lords, and perfect happily ever afters. I loved ‘Miss Isabella Thaws a Frosty Lord’, and ‘Christmas Spirits’ was a hoot! A great seasonal set of stories.
This is a wonderful set of stories for the holiday season. I previously read and reviewed A Most Inconvenient Earl by Claire Delacroix, so I’m including that review here, but all of the books are great reads, I highly recommend this set.
A Most Inconvenient Earl by Claire Delacroix is the fourth book in the Brides of North Barrows series, and is the story of the marriage of convenience of Eurydice Goodenham and Sebastian Montgomery.
Eurydice's sister, Daphne is married to the Duke of Inverfyre, and Daphne is determined that Eurydice should have a season, so that she too may find a loving husband. Eurydice is not a romantic and a season is the last thing she wants. Instead she concocts a plan and proposes a marriage of convenience to Sebastian, Earl of Rockmorton. Sebastian is a known rake so is no threat to her heart, and after some amusing discussions, the two come to an agreement. Eurydice will provide him with an heir, and in return she will gain security for her future, and the freedom to pursue her own interests.
This book is filled with amusing banter between Eurydice and Sebastian, and kept me engaged throughout the story. I think A Most Inconvenient Earl is my favourite in the series, partly because it combines a couple of my favourite tropes (both a marriage of convenience and a road trip) ,as well as a heroine who is as obsessed with books as I am. While it is part of a series, it may be read as a standalone. I recommend it as a fairly light hearted, amusing read.
A wonderful collection of Christmas stories for now and always. Worth the time, don’t miss out. JackieT
