4.5 stars--TWICE A WISH is the second instalment in Pepper Winters’ contemporary, adult GODDESS ISLES dark, erotic romance series focusing on billionaire Sullivan Sinclair, and his captive Eleanor ‘Jinx’ Grace. The GODDESS ISLES series is set in the same world as the author’s MONSTERS IN THE DARK and the INDEBTED series. TWICE A WISH should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one ONCE A MYTH.

SOME BACKGROUND: At twenty-one years old, Eleanor Grace was kidnapped, violated and drugged on her way to becoming a sexual slave. A prisoner in a gilded cage, Eleanor, along with several other girls, are either the willing sexual partner in a fantasy island paradise, or find themselves forced into a lifetime of suffering and pain. Purchased by billionaire Sullivan Sinclair, Eleanor is defiant to the end but a defiance that will come with a price. Four years a slave, Eleanor is about to discover that all is not well on the island paradise or with the man who now dominates and governs every aspect of her life.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sullivan and Eleanor) TWICE A WISH focuses on the continuing turmoil that has become Eleanor Grace’s life. Billionaire and pharmaceutical magnet Sullivan Sinclair owns several islands in the south Pacific but his goddesses, as he likes to call his sexual slaves, live, work and reside on the Goddess Isles. Owning and operating a fantasy island for the uber rich, Sullivan Sinclair ‘procures’ his goddesses through kidnapping and sexual slavery, and in doing so he believes the women he ‘rescues’ are nothing more than prisoners in a gilded cage but Eleanor Grace draws Sullivan Sinclair like a moth to a flame, a flame that is not once, but twice, forced into doing what she has never done before.

TWICE A WISH reveals some of the heart breaking background and history of the man we have come to know as Sullivan Sinclair. The demons of his past drive his present, but with money and power Sinclair turns the tables in an effort to control and punish the people who represent everything wrong in his life.

A dark, gritty, raw and intense read TWICE A WISH, like many of Pepper’s previous releases follows a Stockholm Syndrome premise wherein our heroine will quickly fall for her captor, a man who may be more damaged than anyone could have imagined. The premise is controversial, creative and dramatic; the characters are broken but strong, tragic and colorful; the romance is mired by dubious consent, slavery, ownership and unnatural lust.
