Under Construction

I've spent six months building a spreadsheet of every reason Grant Calloway is a nightmare. Column A: he fired the last three project managers on his flagship hotel renovation. Column B: he corrects my grammar in emails. Column C: the way he looks at me when he thinks I'm not paying attention, like I'm a problem he hasn't solved yet.

I need this job. My mentor's architecture firm folded, my student loans didn't, and Grant Calloway's grandfather's crumbling downtown hotel is the only project big enough to save my career. So I don't care that he's arrogant, or that he's impossibly gorgeous in a way that should be illegal for a man who yells about drywall specs. I care about getting this build done and getting out.

Except I have a secret of my own — one that could get me fired the second he connects the dots. And the longer I spend in blueprints and site visits with him, the harder it gets to remember why I'm supposed to hate him.

Grant: I don't have time for a project manager who challenges every decision I make — except she's right more often than she's wrong, and I hate that I've started waiting for her opinion before I give mine. I have a company to protect from people who'd love to watch it burn, a family name that can't survive one more scandal, and zero room in my life for wanting someone I'm paying to be here. But somebody's been sabotaging my build, and the closer I get to the truth, the closer I get to losing the one person on this job site I actually trust.

Some renovations are supposed to stay strictly professional. This one's about to tear down a lot more than a hotel lobby.
