Funny and Sweet
The culmination of the Kinloch Series. We finally get to see our favourite couple tie the knot. Rory and Zoe are just so sweet and you can feel the love between them. I enjoyed that the main characters are back. Barbara and her cutting/clipped remarks. Brad and his usual out-to-lunch attitude, Charlie and Valentina being goofy, Jamie and Sam causing trouble and Morag and the family. It was a very sweet look into the future.
I did want more detail for the steamy scenes I’ve come to love from Evie Alexander as opposed to the fade to black this novella employed. I laughed until I had tears in my eyes as the story was overwhelmingly funny and light hearted. It just felt disconnected from the other 4 novels. I love Rory and Zoe they are my favourites and I understand this was a short wrap up but I was just left wanting more. I felt things were a tad rushed trying to wrap up 4 books in such a short novella. It still carried a great deal of charm and the usual comedy but I wanted more time between Rory and Zoe The cabin which was a huge plot device in the first and second book was rarely used as a location. Furthermore, we didn’t get to truly see their lives together. Just getting to read from their perspective happened in short bursts but not in the same way as the first books where you could feel the characters’ emotions. Ultimately, I loved the re-emergence of Valentina and Charlie as well as Sam and Jamie but I needed a bit more for the wrap up of this series. Overall, a solid feel good book but leaves a bit to be desired.
