CRAB

Thomas Crane was an American scholar and writer, mostly known as a collector and publisher of folk-tales and legends. 

 “Crab” is a legend, included in the “Italian Popular Tales” collection. The narration is about one king, who loses a valuable ring and issues a proclamation that if any astrologer could tell him where it was he would be richly rewarded. A poor peasant by the name of Crab, who can neither read nor write, but took it into his head that he wanted to be the astrologer, goes and presents himself to the king.
