Rejoice! We live in a wonderful time of meditation apps, expanding nutritional knowledge, mental health enhancement techniques, various physical exercise programs and so on. We are truly progressing towards a more enlightened lifestyle. Are we?

It is a weird state of human affairs that we are working as hard as ever, we have an enormous amount of progress achieved, we have even managed to increase our average lifespan, but longer does not mean better anymore. We live with a myriad of lifestyle diseases. It means that they could be avoided by a better lifestyle, nutrition and mental health.

The scary thing about it is that whilst our general health is going downhill, supermarkets and corporations are doing just fine. They benefit from selling refined and ultra-processed foods, introducing products that are moving us away from a healthy trend and also creating hundreds of different diets that further confuse us. Corporations are also creating work schedules that are very stressful, we constantly feel an enormous lack of time. This constant feeling of lacking something contributes to our mental health problems.

We simply live with war happening inside of us.

It should not be like this. This e-book contains very straightforward tools and techniques that everyone can adopt and reverse many of the major lifestyle diseases, become calmer and emotionally stable. This is something that generally acknowledged as well-being.

Be kind to yourself, others and all sentient beings. It is not difficult at all and reaps massive benefits.

Albert Einstein said: “A human being is a part of a whole, called by us the “Universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty”.

It is possible, with a single and straightforward practice, for everyone to realise and live by principles of nonviolence in our everyday life. We can all live mindfully, ethically and in accordance with our inner values.

This all makes it possible to achieve human and animal welfare, promote mental health and at the same time eliminate world hunger through plant-based whole foods nutrition. It is this simple.

It can yield absolutely enormous benefits for everyone and work synergistically for the whole world. That’s why we say that nonviolence is possible when you develop your inner peace.

Nonviolence Meditation: For Whom?

This book has been written for everyone who is sort of drowning in a moder-day ‘busyness’.

It could be an enormous workplace pressure or even personal health issues, it could be family problems or constant lack of time.

Nowadays we are constantly stimulated, or the more appropriate word for it would be bombarded, by media, messages, unsolicited calls and many more distractions. Whatever people may say, our human brain is not wired for multitasking. We instead develop a myriad of more or less severe mental health problems. On top of that, this ‘busyness’ makes us shop for ready meals, processed and ultra-refined junk foods. This crisis of anxiety topped with unhealthy nutrition triggers a lot of lifestyle diseases. We become enslaved not only by Big Food companies who are feeding us crap but also by pharmaceutical companies which are offering a lot of remedies to help with conditions that were caused by our lifestyle. We may, in general, live longer now, but this ‘busyness’ makes us live sicker and be more and more stressful.

There is a solution to it, and this book was written with a view to making every overstretched, busy and stressed out person be better off by means of mindfulness meditation and simple preventive nutrition.

The concepts of meditation practice that cultivates your mind and straightforward plant-based nutrition are not new. Yet we are now in possession of quite a substantial amount of scientific evidence to prove that it actually helps people to live better, calmer, with increased emotional stability and actually reverse many of mental and physical health problems.

This book starts with a few introductions to the concepts of nonviolence, kindness, mindfulness and meditation. It then outlines the main benefits of meditation practice and continues to offer a very straightforward concentration meditation on breathing. It is regarded as a foundation to meditation practice and recommended to get familiar with before you can embark on other techniques.

When your practice develops, there are a few more ‘advanced’ meditation practices described in this book - insight meditation (vipassana) and targeted meditation practices to help with anxiety and depression.

Next few chapters outline the lifestyle of nonviolence, which means you are being kind to yourself, both to your mind and body. That’s why it continues with an outline of preventive nutrition approach. There are detailed recommendations and a very simple framework to be adopted.

You could then see how everything is interconnected and works synergistically, similarly to your body and mind too. This book offers a perspective on human evolution and nonviolence, how our progress should work for us and not against us.

Finally, this book introduces Ahimsa Meditation non-profit, an organisation that aims to promote nonviolence through mindfulness meditation. For those who are keen to dig deeper into scientific studies on mindfulness and meditation benefits, there are more references and handpicked quotes from trusted publications listed in Appendix.

Wishing you all a very insightful meditation practice, healthier food on your tables and more harmonious relationships with others!
