Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe was an American abolitionist and author. 

Palmetto Leaves by Harriet Beecher Stowe is neither a novel, nor a novella. The book is written in a memorial genre with elements of travel guide, published in 1873. Stowe in this work describes her winters in the town of Mandarin, Florida where she came after the U.S Civil War (1861-1865).
