Teacups: 20 Teacups and Their Stories

The concept for this book was inspired by a peculiar idea that occurred to me while I was drinking tea from an elegant teacup. What if someone lived in it? I began to imagine various characters. I then reviewed different teacups on Instagram and Google. For example, some teacups were used as candles and others as lampshades. Nothing too inspiring. So I began to wonder what else one could do with teacups. I made a list of over 100 ideas.
I then consulted my illustrator friend Katharina Klasen, who kindly volunteered to donate her drawing talent. We worked on the ideas together and I functioned as the art director. I was truly amazed at the drawings she came up with and we decided to do a whole book.

I imagine this book would appeal to both adults and children but it is, for me, an artistic exploration of the magical and comical possibilities of an elegant teacup. For more illustrations by Katharina see Instagram site @klasenart.
