With the news of his estranged father's death, Eli Warren does the one thing he swore he'd never do: he returns home—to the idyllic and prosperous farming town of Armenia, Washington. And to the bad memories residing there. 

To Eli's shock, Armenia is a virtual ghost town, the once fertile and prolific farmland now barren and diseased. But unlike the blighted farms, the massive blackberry briar bordering the properties is thriving … alive. 

The few remaining residents of Armenia are delighted Eli has come home … and so is the sinister thing that awaits him in the briar. 

For these fields never lie fallow. They only feed. 

And the soil must be replenished.
