Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an English critic and author, remembered as a brilliant creator of nonsense and satirical verse, essays, novels, and short stories.The greatest writer and also the greatest thinker, he was one of the dominating figures of the London literary scene in the early twentieth century.

Published in 1904, “The Napoleon of Notting Hill” is a Chesterton’s first novel. It has a fantastic storyline. The action is set in the future, in an alternate 1984. The technology stopped progressing and most people stopped caring about government. Chesterton depicts the society, which is spiritually empty and business-minded.
