The Night Bell

In a remote Norwegian village, an ancient church bell rings once every night at 3:13 a.m.—even though the rope was cut fifty years ago. Anyone who hears it vanishes by morning, leaving behind only their shadow burned into the snow. A jaded big-city detective, sent north after a career-ending scandal, discovers the disappearances began exactly when a Cold War listening station beneath the church went dark. Something is still listening, and it only wakes when it hears human fear through the bell’s frequency. The more the village tries to silence the bell, the hungrier the thing below becomes.
