Mabel Cook Cole (1846-1923) was an American anthropologist and writer whose literary work was dedicated mostly to the life of ancient people. 


'The Story of Kanag' is a Philippine folk tale which was collected and retold by Mabel Cook Cole. The central figure of the story is Kanag who is ordered to guard the grain from wild pigs. But when he came to the place he found that it's safe enough without his doing. He is bored and has nothing to do. But that doesn't last for long...
