Arab Revolts Chance for Better US Ties, Analyst Popular revolutions in the Middle East, which have targeted Western-backed regimes, provide a chance for the Arab world and the United States to develop better ties after decades of bitter acrimony, a leading analyst wrote on March 4. "The spectacular events that are taking place in the Arab region amount to an historic chance to radically mend US-Arab relations in the interests of both parties," said Raghida Dergham, head of the New York office of the London based daily AL HAYAT. "It is also a rare opportunity for US President Barack Obama to forge a Middle East strategy that is in line with the vision and promises he announced when he entered the White House in an aura of change."
