My Unfamiliar

Perfect for fans of Allison Saft and Catherine Bakewell. Winslow Green is famous for matching mages with their perfect animal familiar. She has no magic of her own, but she knows what her customers need, even when they can't see it themselves. Bastian Triplehorn, still grieving his last familiar and grumpy to his core, reluctantly asks for her help. Then the impossible happens: Bastian forms a familiar bond with Winnie herself. As they train for a royal mage competition that could fix everything or ruin their lives, Winnie tastes what magic feels like, and Bastian finds that these unfamiliar feelings are a little like magic too.
