Pilot Study of an Educational Programme for Caregivers of People Ageing with Multiple Sclerosis‪.‬

Introduction Informal (unpaid) caregivers provide the majority of support and assistance to older adults and people with disabilities who live in the community and significantly reduce costs to the health care system (Barker 2002, Wiles 2003). The amount and type of care provided, however, can vary dramatically, depending on the abilities of the care recipient. Although some caregivers provide assistance with occasional activities, such as transportation and shopping, others provide high levels of intimate care with regular activities, such as toileting, bathing and dressing.
