Caribbean

Two trips. Eight years apart. Almost exactly eight years, in fact. The first visit to the Caribbean uncovered ten islands and eleven states. Only five of the states were fully independent then, but two more gained independence by the time of the second visit. The second escapade was a substitute trip planned for a different archipelago. It was a visit to sixteen new islands and second visits to two islands. 


Trip number one, which took place from 31 December 2005 to 16 January 2006 involved Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten, Saint-Martin, Antigua, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Barbados, Grenada, and Puerto Rico. Trip number two, from 20 December 2013 to 13 January 2014, was a  visit to: The Bahamas (New Providence), Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman), Jamaica, Turks & Caicos Islands (Providenciales, Grand Turk), Haiti, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Virgin Islands (Saint Thomas, Saint John), British Virgin Islands (Tortola, Beef Island), Anguilla, Saint-Martin, Sint Maarten, Saint Barthelemy, Antigua, Saint Vincent, Bequia, and Tobago.


In total, this book covers twenty six islands and twenty six states. It describes things in chronological order. The volumes one and two were written a few years apart. This short book describes the author’s personal and unique experiences during both trips. It contains 295 original photographs taken during the trip, descriptions of places to eat, drink, sleep and socialise with the locals.
