Jiangsu Sights

Jiangsu Province is situated in the eastern coast region of China and on the lower reaches of both Yangtze River and Huai River, facing the ocean on the east. There are lots of rivers and lakes all over Jiangsu Province, with the Yangtze River traversing thoroughly from the east to the west, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal down 718 km from the north to the south.
Occupied by boundless plain, the terrain of Jiangsu Province is smooth with low mountains, hills and hillocks spreading around the boundary area. In the province, rivers and lakes crisscross and scatter everywhere, and Yangtze River, Huai River, the Grand Canal, Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake and other big or small lakes have formed a dense water-net by intertwining with each other. That is the reason why it earns the name of water country. The natural scenery of Jiangsu features in the combination of its mountains and rivers, especially in rivers. Landscapes of hills and lakes shine together with each other.
