Description de l’éditeur

My new assignment is to examine bank deposits in one of the small tropical islands that has just undergone a change of government. The new government is straight arrow and many of the small tropical island bank deposits were unknown to the United States government.
The United States government tax boys and girls are gonna have a field day.
I meet with the tax boys and girls.
I’m told that Jake is on a sort of probation. No funny business will be allowed and all of the back taxes due will be billed to the account holders.
I tell the tax boys and girls that I’m not a tax expert, but I am a computer expert. Once the tax experts tell how much is owed, I will tell them who owes.
One Janice, tax expert lady, asks me, “How can you trace the secretive owner of a hidden bank account?”
I point out to Janice that what I do might be illegal under United States law, but since I am working for the United States government, I am allowed to do it.
Janice accepts what I have to say. She then asks, “What if some of the offshore bank accounts are found to be in tax compliance?”
I point out to the lady that I work under the same kind of ethical limits that she does, I will obtain information necessary to collect back taxes owed, but no more,
(I find myself attracted to Janice, I will work ethically with her to collect back taxes owed. However I will also attempt to get into her panties by fair means or foul,)
After a lot of talk, we all board an airplane for our target island.
Chapter 5: The Island
As we board the airplane, I gift Janice with a genuine ‘Panama Hat,’ although the hats are actually made in Ecuador.
Janice is surprised and asks me why.
I tell her, “A Panama hat is light, breathable and a perfect sun shield for a tropical climate. You will love it.”
The plane lands at the airport and the rest of the crew takes taxis to a hotel,
Janice and I are greeted by a driver for the island President. We are whisked to the Colomial Governor’s Mansion and greeted by the President.
(As we ride along, I see Janice work out why we are being greeted by the President. Janice then gives me a big smile. She says only, “Well. we have two starting points,”
I say, “They will be good starting points for your tax crew and for you and me.”
Janice and I are greeted and each given a glass of wine, as we greet the President.
The President lectures us about the new island tax laws and makes sure that we know that he wants more legal off shore bank accounts.
We then chat with the President for a while, Then we are whisked to our hotel by the President’s driver.
Janice asks me, “You were smart enough to pay the …”
I jump in, “United States taxes, yes,”
Janice says, “They said that you were a criminal.”
I ask, “Do criminals pay legal taxes?”
Janice asks, “Then ,..?”
I lecture, “Some of the people that I dealt with didn’t pay taxes, then when they got caught, why didn’t I also get caught ?”
Janice says, “You plan ahead,”
I say, “The sharecroppers don’t plan ahead.”
Janice laughs, ”That’s why they’re sharecroppers.”
I say, “We tend to find our own level, after a time,”
