Publisher Description
The face of war is changing. The other side doesn't play by the rules much anymore. There's thinking, in some circles, that we need to play by a different set of rules too....
Fresh from Afghanistan, James Bond has been recruited to a new agency. Conceived in the post-9/11 world, it operates independent of Five, Six and the MoD, with its very existence deniable. Its aim: to protect the Realm, by any means necessary.
The Night Action alert calls Bond from dinner with a beautiful woman. GCHQ has decrypted an electronic whisper about an attack scheduled for later in the week: casualties estimated in the thousands, British interests adversely affected. And 007 has been given carte blanche to do whatever it takes to fulfil his mission.

007 is back!
Great read/listen. Written in true Fleming style and read wonderfully
So good
This book is so good it would be good as a movie. Looking forward to more.
Didn't meet expectations
I was largely underwhelmed by the story. The plot seems luke warm, and while you expect a wealth of cliches out of any Bond story this one seemed over the top. I also felt that it had been written with young adults in mind - for a man with a license to kill, this Bond seems to shoot a lot of people in arms and legs!! Obviously it's personal taste (I love the new, rougher Bonds by Daniel Craig) but I got the feeling there's an effort to make this Bond more politically correct. It's a shame because I highly rate some of Deavers other books! I found it passed the time but never really gripped me.
In essence it's not a Sean Connery, or a Daniel Craig, but rather a Roger Moore.
