About the author

Andy Jones is Professor of Applied Physiology at the University of Exeter and one of the world’s leading experts on the science and practice of endurance exercise, specifically distance running. A former international middle-distance athlete, he has acted as the sports science advisor to world marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe and was part of Nike’s consulting team for Eliud Kipchoge’s successful sub-two-hour marathon performance. He continues to work with dozens of elite athletes and has consulted for UK Athletics, Nike and the English Institute of Sport.
