A Feast for Crows

Like everyone else really, a brilliant book but lacking in the main characters.
After finishing the last book I was really looking forward to reading more about catelyn still being alive! and would like to have read about tyrions journey in exile but it wasn't there, a plus tho that you get more of a incite into Jamie he's definitely one of the best characters in the series, as for cersei, I honestly don't think it's healthy to hate someone so much for such a long time, Jesus I can't stand her!
Overall A good book but a bit of a chore, hopefully the next instalment will be back to it's best !

ok ill mention now that i'm writing this having listened to only half of the story

A Feast For Crows, is so far still a very good listen and is by no means bad. its just that I have found this addition to the series of 'a song of ice and fire' vastly different in its entiretly, it feels as though this book is a side addition to the series.
straight from the beginning we are introduced to the perspectives of characters that we have never even herd of before and at most have only been lightly mentioned (the grayjoys). whose characters i have little care for and often find myself wishing they would hurry up so i could get to another more gripping section. The problem i have with these additions is that, we now have lost compleatly the side of the story being told by Jon, Tyrion, Davos, Catelyn, an Arya's contribution is greatly decreased, and Daenery's.
but its the way these characters points of view are lost, its so abrupt,so: we have no idea what has happened to the onion knight (Davos) what so ever, its just not mentioned what has happened to him. Jon+Tyrion, there lack of perspectives are ok.. they have good reasons, with jon we kind of have a transition from him into Samwell, being that now the wall is not in such grave danger with their added garrison, so lots of talk just being on the wall with be abit droll, and Tyrion is on the run and in hiding so he shouldnt be getting up to lots of mayhem or he would be uncoverd. but with the end of the third book being of Catelyn not being dead! you would have thought that maybe they would let you in on whats going on with all of that! rather than suddenly lots and lots of the greyjoys. an also Daenery's perspective is just not in this book which seems just out of place.
One of the reasons i have loved the story so far is that each transition between characters jumps you between whats going on in each section of the world and how you know more than some of the characters do, an all the time you the listener or reader knowing the possible tension that is building up with the fact that Daenery's is now the mother of dragons and has an army which is just on its way over to the mainland, she just captures a city, decides to rule it for a time and bam... she's just out of the story. the section about the north and the perrils there just again, bam.. out of the picture for the most part.

so what do we have left. we have no theat of the north, no foreign tales and troubles over sea's. no danger of arya + bryeen/jamie going through the wilderness. and we have instead the bland wanderings of bryeen where she just just seems to walk around asking people stuff, bryeen (i know its spelt wrong)being a really hard character to like in my opinion, you want her to be this great fighter and to show everyone wrong but then shes always just about to get raped or manhandled, so its just a let down all the time. and sansa's story which is now told in more depth though she is just useless unlike arya whose lack of involvement in the story so far is really soul crushing for me being that her side to the story was one of my favourites. Oh! i just remembered that we also loose bran's side to the story!

bah. im going to stop here as i'm now just plain ranting..

well all i can say is that this gets 3 stars, and that i really hope the new book ( :D! ) puts the story back to its former glory.

This book changes the series from something that is hard to put down, to something that is a struggle to get through.

The focus shifts entirely from the core characters (Jon, Arya, Bran, Danerys) on to secondary characters who, in my opinion, add little to GM's world. If this was an attempt to broaden the scope of the series, I think that it has failed. Entire plot lines are left hanging in favour of slow, monotonous and often pretty pointless scenarios.

I have not read A Dance with Dragons yet, but I have a feeling that you could skip this one all together and get by ok.

Disappointed.
