Publisher Description
NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues the Montgomery Ink Legacy series with an emotional, friends-to-lovers romance where second chances begin with a promise.
I fell in love with the wrong man and learned the hard way to ask for help.
I don’t plan on falling again and have no intention of trying.
But when I get invited to a high-powered CEO retreat, I know I can’t say no.
And I can’t go alone.
When my frenemy, Nick, invites himself as my escort, I should walk away.
But there’s no stopping the connection we’ve both ignored for far too long.
Only Nick’s past is far darker than he lets the world know, and the shell he encased himself in is stronger than my own. And when the pain from my past comes back with a force, I’m afraid that walking away will be the only choice—even if it breaks us both.

Another great Montgomery Legacy Ink read
This is the second book in Carrie Ann Ryan's MONTGOMERY INK LEGACY series; focusing on Lake Montgomery, daughter of Liam and Arden Montgomery (from WRAPPED IN INK).
She is a great heroine as she is smart, beautiful and independent, as well as a successful business woman. However, she is also imperfect and vulnerable, and we see this side of her, not just her achievements.
Nick Gatlin has been part of the Montgomery story and extended “family” for a while and we now get to see him in more depth and understand him better as he helps and supports Lake.
This book seemed softer and gentler to me some how, as we got to see these characters, who had grown up together, find their way. However, there was still plenty of intrigue and angst as well as chemistry. And the conclusion of the book will leave you stunned and gripped ready for the next instalment (tissues recommended).
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
