Publisher Description
Billionaire dragon shifter and Bloodkin Triad member Warrick Voclain is no stranger to power. But when his trusted steward’s beautiful granddaughter—all grown up and successful in her own right—seems to be using illegal magic in his presence, he is thrown for a loop. And the fact that she’s doing so to protect him? Alarming.
Samantha Vine needs to stay under the radar, or her secret gift will get her and her granddad killed. She didn’t intend for her quick visit home to stretch into weeks in Warrick’s company, but anyone striking at Warrick would also hurt her granddad. Only she has the ability to see what’s coming…though she’ll need Warrick’s help to stop it.
The use of such magic is punishable by death, and Warrick’s position on the Triad requires that he adhere to the rule of law. But the attraction between them is electric, stirring his blood and straining his control.
Adversaries wait in every shadow, and the easiest way to strike down a powerful dragon is to go for the heart…in Warrick’s case, Samantha. With fire and blood, he’ll reshape the world into one that’s safe for her. And those that don’t bend to his will? They will burn.

An exciting multi-dimensional world
In summary this is a great read and would recommend it to anyone else interested in romance and fantasy novels. Erin has created a unique blend of fantasy alongside life as we know it with Warrick and Samantha playing out the difficulties of life between the human and bloodkin families.
I read this book first although second in the series. That meant it took a little longer to pick up on the world Erin has created but once you get it, I found it captivating! I've since read book one and would recommend starting there although not essential.
Samantha is strong and fearless in protecting her human and bloodkin family which complements Warwick's character as a confident and fierce member of the triad. I really liked reading how the two come to work together and find a balance in their unique roles, each having their own purpose.
I finished the book intrigued by the world and interested in where else Erin had taken the characters. Each book looks to have a nod to the other but is mainly focused on a different couple. For me, I wasn't gripped enough to immediately buy the next book but would still recommend the first two in the series for a good, entertaining and well developed story.
