Rick Cahill can't escape his past—or his father's

Rick Cahill has long feared the truth about his own blood—the blood of his father coursing through his veins.

When a long-hidden safe unlocks clues about why his father was kicked off the police force twenty-seven years ago and then spiraled into an early drunken death, Rick determines to find the truth even if it proves the one thing he's always feared.

But as he grapples with his father's past, the woman he still loves pleads with him to find out if her husband is having an affair—or is involved in something much more sinister. Could the truth send her back into Rick's arms? Would he have a last shot at happiness?

He may never get the chance to find out, as killers who will do anything to protect their secrets lurk in the shadows.

A hard-boiled PI novel for fans of Raymond Chandler, Ross MacDonald, and Dashiell Hammett

Continued Excellence

I have read the first four books by MC starting his amazing character Rick Cahill. Each books benefits from having read the previous ones so my advice is to read them in order.

This book follows similar themes to the first three. Great stories interwoven with a complicated personal life and a knack of making really bad operational decisions that somehow turn out ok. Rick Cahill and the other reoccurring characters are like friends to me now and I cannot get enough of them. I have the next two books to read but I don’t want to because I won’t have anymore to read (at least until December).

Great books and a great way to spend hours of relaxing reading time, albeit not that relaxing as the stories do build tension and are real page turners.

Trust me you need to read these books.
