A real page turner
Clear Skies is first in a new series by Suzanne Cass set around the Stormcloud Station in Australia, each book is stand-alone without a cliffhanger.
When Daisy's brother gets in trouble with the police she drives them both from Perth to Northern Queensland where they live quietly in the Outback. After buying provisions and in a desperate hurry to return to her young brother, Daisy foolishly drives through a flooded river and her car becomes caught in the raging water.
When Dale from Stromcloud Station rescues Daisy she doesn't seem at all appreciative because she's now trapped on the wrong side of the river, leaving her brother alone.
Unable to cross the river, Dale takes Daisy back with him to Stormcloud where they hear the news that the flooded river has claimed the life of his co-worker from the Station. The police arrive to investigate and it becomes apparent that the death wasn't an accident, it was murder. Daisy is trying to keep a low profile but with the police investigating a murder everyone will be questioned and she needs to protect her brother.
The beginning of a new series, full of mystery and romance with wonderful descriptions of Queensland. Looking forward to the next in the series.
