Publisher Description

The very first Logan McRae novel in the No.1 bestselling crime series from Stuart MacBride.

DS Logan McRae and the police in Aberdeen hunt a child killer who stalks the frozen streets.

Winter in Aberdeen: murder, mayhem and terrible weather…

It’s DS Logan McRae’s first day back on the job after a year off on the sick, and it couldn’t get much worse. Three-year-old David Reid’s body is discovered in a ditch: strangled, mutilated and a long time dead. And he’s only the first. There’s a serial killer stalking the Granite City and the local media are baying for blood.

Soon the dead are piling up in the morgue almost as fast as the snow on the streets, and Logan knows time is running out. More children are going missing. More are going to die. And if Logan isn’t careful, he could end up joining them.

Cold granite

Excellent read, gritty, believable. This author knows his stuff and tells a story brilliantly, with characters that you can relate to - although I still find it bizarre to turn the page and see my name!!!

Cold as granite but so much more interesting.

This is a riveting read. Logan, a really decent detective sergeant who gives it all for the job is in Aberdeen, working for a new boss, when bodies start to arrive in singularly indecent haste. Trouble is there’s quite a few in the frame for it and the murders are crossing unusual lines. Surely there won’t be more than one killer? As the disappearances continue, a reporter with a key source in the know is proving himself a distinct problem. People are watching Logan for all the wrong reasons. This is a great read with a strong storyline. It’s my first book by this author , it definitely won’t be the last. I’m hooked!
