Publisher Description
A Post Apocalyptic Tale of Community and Corruption.
2140 CE
For a century the world has been savaged by the S18K4 virus. The Great Pathogen swept across the globe like a planetary cancer. Populations dwindled, societies fell, economies plummeted, and ideologies crumbled.
It is now the age of reclamation. Governments strive to take back land and yet, in the south-west of England, their efforts are obstructed.
A coastal village has thrived in the intervening years and, secluded from the rest of the world, have grown fearful of what might befall them were they exposed.
None have discovered them for a century, yet when two castaways appear a week after the mysterious death of Richard Kelly, the prospect of the village seems ill-fated to all.

Brilliant!
Downloaded Part One of Elysium after reading one of the authors other books titled "Our sunset wall of remembrance" (which I thoroughly enjoyed)
This tale is totally different to the short story, but again I found myself captivated by the story and couldn't put it down (too often).
(Spoiler alert!) The story is set in the future but evolves around a community cut off from the rest of the world, who survive in an almost pre-industrial fashion. The world out side has been decimated by a horror that I shall keep secret, while the villagers try to keep themselves safe and hidden.
I find myself fascinated by their lives, and think I would enjoy an evening or two in their local pub conversing with the locals and enjoying some of their home brewed wines and ales. Far from the hustle and bustle of wi-fi and tesco :)
Again, I am loving this book and am pleased to see Part Two is also available for me to download at my leisure. Will recommend to friends and family alike. Bill
Can't recommend enough
Pity there's already a movie going by the same name that's coming out this year - KJR's Elysium has great imagery dotted throughout and brilliant characterisation. If I can recommend one book this week it's Elysium!
Not to be missed
This was a great book, I love the story. I thought the characters were intriguing, and the author writes in such a way as to make it easy to see the situation from their perspective.
I enjoyed the commentary about the plague - it was quite refreshing to read an apocalypse story where the apocalypse is secondary - a thing of the past and not in your face the whole time. The imagery is another aspect that was great, throughout the book there are several punctuating moments, though I won't spoil them.
All in all I really enjoyed this book and hope that all the characters come back in part 2.
