Sophie Kinsella won our hearts with her bestselling Shopaholic series, which charts the adventures of Becky Bloomwood, a heroine as witty as she is materialistic. Finding Audrey is written with the same effortless chattiness, pulling us into the story of a young woman grappling with high school bullying and debilitating bouts of anxiety. We are ecstatic that Kinsella chose to write this young adult novel, which strikes a perfect balance between comedy, sweet romance and a thoughtful, sensitive portrayal of a teen girl actively seeking to get better at managing her thoughts and emotions.

In her first book for teens, Kinsella (the Shopaholic series) offers pathos and humor in equal measure. The story has two cinematic threads: the candid narration of 14-year-old Audrey, who is coping with depression and anxiety disorders, and the transcript of a documentary she is recording at her therapist's suggestion. Since being hospitalized after an unspecified incident at school, Audrey refuses to leave the house or interact with anyone outside her family, wearing dark glasses to avoid eye contact. The title of her documentary, "My Serene and Loving Family," is only half ironic: her parents are loving and supportive, but her mother's unpredictability sometimes overshadows her good intentions and shatters any semblance of serenity in the household. Mum is determined to cure Audrey's brother's "addiction" to online gaming and their bickering builds to hilarious mutual exasperation. Yet at its heart, this is Audrey's story of healing and reemergence, facilitated by her friendship and first love with an insightful, patient boy. Kinsella's knack for humor and sensitivity shine in a story that should easily expand her already substantial fan base. Ages 12 up.

A great book... Finding Audrey is a gem. I would absolutely recommend for mothers and daughters. Enjoyed the read. Well done Sophie Kinsella
I want to know what happened...
It's a good book, told in a way only Sophie Kinsella can... However, it feels incomplete.
I read the whole book in two half days desperate to find out what happened to Audrey in school, and now I feel a bit fobbed off!
I suppose it's close to real life, where normally people don't want to tell everyone everything and some people really don't look back, but now I've finished reading the book it's quite hollow. It's a shame... I did spend good money on something I'm now going to delete.
