An emotional book

A great book worth reading

Book 4 of the brewing passion series by the phenomenal author Liz Crowe. In this book we see Austin's twin brother, Brock, come back into the family fold after years of doing his own thing by partying and drinking plus bedding loads of women which left him tired and restless. Kayla is an ex addict and clean after several near misses on overdosing. She enjoys the throws of work in her brothers fiance's bar until she meets and strikes up a friendship with Brock. It's not long until the demons she thought were gone rear their ugly heads and they both have to slay them and confront them but will they get through the other side.
Writing about addiction and the consequences of addiction and how it affects everyone involved is always hard, not just from the person's point of view if they are writing about themselves but from others points of view whether from real life experience or just a story. But what Liz Crowe do was way more than that. It was full of emotion, feelings, anger, rejection, betrayal, resignation and everything else you could think off.
She took a story and ran with it, hearing from Brock's position as an alcoholic and everything he has done throughout that time and pushed family away and the relief her felt when welcome back, reluctantly, by his twin brother and sister in law. Then we here from Kayla's side with she addiction, her being clean, the struggles she still has and what happens from the point she meets Brock with the flailing on a slippery slope.
It was a heart rending story from page one through to the end. We are given a warning about the content but it really doesn't go into to great in-depth detail about some of the warning but the thought out process is there so you can imagine what might be happening in your own mind. The way Liz pulled the characters together was nothing short of brilliant, giving them both a real life persona that could of quite easily of been your brother, sister, aunt, cousin, mom or dad. A wonderfully fantastic series that's worth the read. If I could give this book more that 5* I certainly would. Will Kayla and Brock ever get their HEA they deserve or is their addiction just to much? I voluntarily reviewed this book as an advanced reader copy.
