About the author
Portia MacIntosh has been ‘making stuff up’ for as long as she can remember – or so she says. Whether it was blaming her siblings for that broken vase when she was growing up, blagging her way backstage during her rock chick phase or, most recently, whatever justification she can fabricate to explain away those lunchtime cocktails, Portia just loves telling tales.
After years working as a music journalist, Portia decided it was time to use her powers for good and started writing novels instead.
Bestseller Portia writes hilarious romcoms, drawing on her real life experiences to show what it’s really like being a woman today – especially one who doesn’t quite have her life together yet.

Meet the In Laws
Roxie and Mark have been together for a year and everything is going great. When Mark proposes one night, Roxie is over the moon that they have taken the next step in their relationship. Roxie knows its time to meet the in laws, and although she is nervous, she is also excited. On their way to the Yorkshire Dales, to see the family, Mark tells Roxie that he hasnt yet told his parents of the engagement let alone that he even has a girlfriend. He has left it all as a complete surprise for them. Things go from bad to worse on arrival, Mark's parents seem very frosty towards her, they have also invited Mark's ex girlfriend over for Christmas, and as they were only staying overnight, she has no change of clothes and now it looks like they are snowed in for a time. Mark's ex wants him back and Roxie's boss from the Magazine, keeps on at her to do a feature for the magazine about meeting the in laws over Christmas for the first time.
This had lots of laugh out loud moments and reminded me of a few films I have watched. Its entertaining and brings the worst and best out in people especially at this time of year. Portia Macintosh always makes a story humorous and has a way of bringing the charactors to life, you cant help but like them. This is a great little read.
Splendid
Everything comes all together and the epilogue is spot on.
Hilarious and Sassy
This is one of my favourite books by this author. I think everyone can relate to that feeling when your in-laws aren't exactly a dream, and this book does it so well, bringing out humour, cringe-inducing embarrassing moments, and a whole lot of love too. One of my favourite authors right now.
