Publisher Description
Every advanced society in the galaxy relies on the technology of the Protheans, an ancient species that vanished fifty thousand years ago. After discovering a cache of Prothean technology on Mars in 2148, humanity is spreading to the stars, the newest interstellar species struggling to carve out its place in the greater galactic community.
On the edge of colonized space, ship commander and Alliance war hero David Anderson investigates the remains of a top secret military research station: smoking ruins littered with bodies and unanswered questions. Who attacked this post, and for what purpose? And where is Kahlee Sanders, the young scientist who mysteriously vanished from the base hours before her colleagues were slaughtered?
Sanders is the prime suspect, but finding her creates more problems for Anderson than it solves. Partnered with a rogue alien agent he can't trust and pursued by an assassin he can't escape, Anderson battles impossible odds on uncharted worlds to uncover a sinister conspiracy - one he won't live to tell about. Or so the enemy thinks.

Fantastic
This is the second time I’ve read this book, it’s extremely well written and paced!
There’s never a dull moment and the characters are brilliant. As a Mass Effect fan & player, it was really easy for me to get immersed into this story as I can already picture every species and character so clearly and I can really hear their voices from the games as I read their dialogue and thoughts here.
Really brilliant, all three books by Karpyshen are 10/10
Good Read overall and a great addition to the Mass Effect Universe
The books was solid overall. Had interesting and well fleshed out characters from the game. Not sure how well it would function for someone not familiar with the games, but for someone that has played the games (especially the first one) it was a treat.
It’s not perfect. It was a bit short, and some things were left a little bit unresolved.
That being said it was an enjoyable time. If they ever do a Mass Effect tv show (hopefully an animated one) this wouldn’t be a bad place to start.
Very gripping
Well put together. Filled the holes in the mass effect story world. Love it
