Mrs Dalloway (published on 14 May 1925) is a novel by Virginia Woolf that details a day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway in post-World War I England. Mrs Dalloway is one of Woolf's best-known novels.
Created from two short stories, "Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street" and the unfinished "The Prime Minister", the novel's story is of Clarissa's preparations for a party of which she is to be hostess. With the interior perspective of the novel, the story travels forwards and back in time and in and out of the characters' minds to construct an image of Clarissa's life and of the inter-war social structure.
In 2005 the novel was chosen by TIME magazine as one of the one hundred best English-language novels from 1923 to present.

As Clarissa Dalloway prepares to host a party in 1920s London, she is unexpectedly reunited with her old friend Peter Walsh in a novel that shifts among the inner monologues of its many characters and is darkened by the terrors and hallucinations of parallel protagonist Septimus Smith. Juliet Stevenson s performance with its lyricism and lilt is perfectly matched to Woolf s text and transports the listener. Stevenson produces a delightful range of distinct voices her introspective, fragile Clarissa and stormy Peter are particularly strong.

Mrs dalloway
A hard book to get into, persevere and it's worth the time. I read a room of ones own -also by Woolf in accompaniment, helped to heighten my understanding of the times and situation Woolf was writing in.
I shall buy the flowers myself.
Brilliant. Woolf at her best.
