A STORM IS COMING . . . AND NOT EVERYONE CAN SURVIVE ITS WRATH.
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there's no more time for lessons and no more time for uncertainty - the battle has truly begun. With enemies closing in from all corners, they need an army. They need power. And they need to unravel the dark truth about what's really happening on the continent before it's too late.
Violet must embark on her most dangerous mission yet and travel beyond the failing wards to seek allies who will stand with Navarre. The trip will push her to the very edge of her power, and the odds of dying are far greater than the hope of success. But Violet will risk everything to save her dragons, her family, and him . . . even if it means keeping a secret so big it could destroy them all.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Rebecca Yarros, a forty-something mum of six from Colorado, sure knows her way around a compelling storyline. Her Empyrean romantasy novel series is a global phenomenon, shifting millions and adored by readers who grew up on Harry Potter and The Hunger Games but these days like something a little spicier in the mix. This third instalment charts the continuing adventures of Violet Sorrengail, a trainee dragon rider in the kingdom of Navarre. The stakes are higher than ever and her enemies are closing in, but one in particular is welcome—hello there, Xaden, her deliciously handsome foe. Expect flirty banter, steamy scenes and plenty of fodder for fan theories.

One of My All-Time Favourites
Reading the reviews for this series on Goodreads honestly made me a bit upset. There are thousands of one-star reviews, and I just can’t imagine rating this book—or this series—that low. That’s when I started taking Goodreads ratings with a pinch of salt.
I read Book 1 on a plane during a holiday. I was probably dozing off through parts of it, but I kept waking up because the storyline pulled me back in. Then I absolutely flew through Book 2—I was so excited that I barely remember parts of it because of how quickly I read.
And Book 3? I’m literally going back to read it again. I can’t even explain the amount of joy, fear, pain, satisfaction, and “what on earth just happened?” moments I experienced. It was intense in the best possible way.
Rebecca Yarros, I both love and hate you for this series—love you for writing something so addictive, and hate you for making me wait for Book 4. But it’s worth it. I’ve already recommended it to coworkers, who’ve recommended it to their friends, and now we’ve basically formed a mini book club because of this series.
10 out of 10. If I could give it 100, I would.
For a while, this was my number one favourite series, but it’s now sitting at number two—only because Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas edges it out by the tiniest margin. That said, Book 4 might easily push it back to the top, or they’ll end up tied.
Character development: tick.
Storyline: tick.
Pacing: tick.
Writing: tick.
Creativity: tick.
Cliffhangers: tick.
Everything just works.
If you don’t read this series, you’re seriously missing out.
Fabulous!
Loved every moment, wish it didn’t have to end.
Best one of the series!
Read this book in a week- so good! Except for Xaden calling Violet ‘love’, this book is fab… had all the shocking, exciting and heartbreaking moments that had me up nights on end. Can’t wait to read the final part of this story now.
