Not bad at all, a good follow up to PC Copperfield
Just finished reading this e-book, as a serving response police officer , this book is very accurate, it identifies many issues and frustrations that I and the "few" police officers that leave the police station have.
The book also points out the many issues with our "support" structure and how it assist us with our work. Sorry "assist" is the wrong word.....
Read the book and find out what modern day policing is really about.

You CAN handle the truth
As a serving police officer, I must say that there was not one story or anecdote in this book that did not make me smile with a fond familiarity, having experienced at least once if not the exact same situation, then one pretty damn like it. Gadget's ability to jump quickly from the farcical to the tragic and then straight back again captures perfectly the reality of policing Britain in the 21st century. I'm pleased to say that - in my experience at least - some aspects of what is described here have improved. But for every one of those, there are others that are much, much worse. And remember, most of this book was written in a time when the global economy wasn't crumbling around us, when police forces actually had money to at least try to combat the issues that really matter to you (and to us). It won't take the geniuses among you to imagine how things are now, with forces facing 20% budget cuts and a workforce chattering with uncertainty.
If I would wish to add one thing, it's this: Having seen what this book describes with my own two eyes every working day, I swallowed it's contents easily and without question in less than 24 hours. For those readers among you still blessed with a delightful mental misconception of what the Police actually do (that is probably anyone who does not have regular contact with us) your brains will be resistant to what this book contains. Your mind will tell you "No, it can't really be like this. Surely nothing would ever get done! No, this man is one of those negative change-resistant public servants that Politicians are always talking about, a cynical twisted old nay-sayer who's blown the whole thing out of proportion to try to prove a point." It's not your fault, you can't help it. Your whole life you've been fed rubbish about how things really would work a lot better if everyone just "tried harder." Well I'm sorry, but reality just isn't like that. This book is reality. It really IS like this. And next time you call us and don't receive the quality of service you expected/wanted/deserved, understand that we're really sorry, and we're as angry and frustrated as you are. But sadly, no one is listening to us either.
