Amid the quiet confines of her existence, Lady Jane Roseington resigns herself to a solitary life of spinsterhood, destined to linger in the shadows as an unnoticed bystander. Yet, a glimmer of hope persists within her, defying all rationality. This fragile hope is put to the test when an encounter with a lord possessing the charm of a tempestuous boar shatters her calm demeanor, plunging her into scandal.
Caleb Wesley, the enigmatic Earl of Keery, bears the weight of a past failure that haunts his every step. He has embraced a reputation as a rogue, seeking solace in reckless liaisons, the thrill of gambling, and the comforting embrace of spirits. These indulgences seem unending, until an unforeseen twist of fate forces him to a vow of matrimony after a thoughtless mistake stains a lady's honor.
Thrown together by the cruel hand of fate, Jane and Caleb's lives converge in ways neither could have foreseen. As they navigate their reluctant union, they discover an unexpected connection that defies their preconceived notions. Can they break free from the shackles of past pain and preconceived notions, allowing themselves to embrace the unanticipated love woven into their intertwined destinies?
Customer Reviews
An enjoyable addition to the series
This series is a lot of fun and the characters are very engaging. Jane has appeared in other books in the series and she has always been a much more interesting wallflower than the stereotypical ones that appear in most historical stories. There are some fun cameos from familiar characters and some fun introductions to new characters.
I like that the settings and premise for the books in this series are always slightly different and unique. They are really engaging as there are many unexpected moments throughout. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series in the future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
