Seaside Whispers is a sweet feel good single parent / friends to lovers romance that is a must read for all fans of Melissa Foster. I loved the maturity of this book and the development of the characters with little drama but enough action to keep things interesting.
Mira and Matt, who tell the story from dual perspective, have such an incredible chemistry but what made their connection even more special was the importance Matt put naturally into including her son, Hagen (such a cute and realistically aged character). I liked how the author was able to carry the underlying personal tensions for both characters through the whole story aptly, while also capturing their undeniable chemistry; through the dual points of views it allowed further development of the two in understanding the hidden deeper emotions relating to issues in their pasts and why they are the way they are today, Matt especially. Both characters were well rounded, very likeable and easily connectable for readers.
Seaside Whispers had a good steady flow and was written in such a beautiful way with both a witty and emotional undertone that was just perfect for capturing both the light hearted and serious sides of the book and will keep you hanging on to every word and feeling the characters’ emotions right along with them. There was a strong plot that evolves with some predictability but also a few surprising twists to keep you intrigued from start to finish and had a sweet HEA that tied up things for Matt, Mira and Hagen, as well as a few other sub-characters. Melissa Foster really knows how to write a great contemporary romance with heart warming, emotional characters, stunningly vivid settings and just all round enjoyable, unique reads. Be assured, if you haven’t read any previous books you definitely can read this as a standalone; the previous books will no doubt just add another dimension and a deeper knowledge of sub-characters (I personally haven’t read all in this series).
Overall, if you enjoy a light hearted, small town single parent romances, set in a realistic setting with a stunning backdrop, don’t hesitate to give this book a read! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
