Detective DeLuca plays a dangerous game with gangsters, mayhem, and murder in 50s L.A.

Detective Marc DeLuca must solve the murder of several of gangster Mickey Cohen's night watchmen. This time, his suspects are an eighteen-year-old mountain of a boxer and his goddess of a sister. DeLuca knows he should keep his distance but falls for the dame's knockout beauty anyway. 

Helene Dominic has learned men are brutal, and she's vowed never to let one get close enough to hurt her again. But when the charming and persistent Detective DeLuca enters her life, she finds herself torn between her vow and the growing feelings she has for him. She certainly can't fall for someone who thinks her brother's a murderer.

But as DeLuca investigates, two and two don't add up. The math says some fellow department goons might be on the take. With treachery and murder complicating everything, how can his relationship with Helene stand a chance?
