Bow Before Your Queen Or Bleed Before Her…
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her Blood and Ash series.
She's been the victim and the survivor…
Poppy never dreamed she would find the love she’s found with Prince Casteel. She wants to revel in her happiness but first they must free his brother and find hers. It’s a dangerous mission and one with far-reaching consequences neither dreamed of. Because Poppy is the Chosen, the Blessed. The true ruler of Atlantia. She carries the blood of the King of Gods within her. By right the crown and the kingdom are hers.
The enemy and the warrior…
Poppy has only ever wanted to control her own life, not the lives of others, but now she must choose to either forsake her birthright or seize the gilded crown and become the Queen of Flesh and Fire. But as the kingdoms’ dark sins and blood-drenched secrets finally unravel, a long-forgotten power rises to pose a genuine threat. And they will stop at nothing to ensure that the crown never sits upon Poppy’s head.
A lover and heartmate…
But the greatest threat to them and to Atlantia is what awaits in the far west, where the Queen of Blood and Ash has her own plans, ones she has waited hundreds of years to carry out. Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible—travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And as shocking secrets and the harshest betrayals come to light, and enemies emerge to threaten everything Poppy and Casteel have fought for, they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people—and each other.
And now she will become Queen…
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The third installment in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s steamy fantasy series ups the consequences—and the danger—for her odd-couple heroes. Picking up directly where A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire leaves off (this is one series where you really should start from the beginning), the book opens with feisty young Poppy arriving in the kingdom of her dark-hearted betrothed, Prince Casteel. It’s a struggle. Not only is she finding it hard to control her growing powers (one word: dragons!), but her presence is dividing the people of Atlantia, leading to a betrayal with devastating consequences. We love Armentrout’s trademark banter and seriously hot sex scenes, and The Crown of Gilded Bones is full of both. The raised stakes bring even more intensity to what was already a page-turning series.
Customer Reviews
Slowly getting better
It was starting to get repetitive in the first two books, and I was about to call it quits after this one but the ending!! Much more action and drama in the second half so fingers crossed the next book might be a 5*
Struggle to finish
This book was such a struggle, it went straight down hill. All the tension and intrigue was gone, they just go on about how much they love each other and providing exposition on gods and primals.
Drag
Middle of book is such a drag. I mean so slow, I had to force myself to pick the book back up. Incoherent, pointless conversation with the same descriptive language used over and over again. Honestly none of it added to the story - just felt like I was going round in circles. Very poor compared to previous writing and the start of the book - not sure where it lost the plot but it definitely did. Editor should have chopped the whole thing out - the ending was however great so push through
