Well worth the read
I wasn’t sure about reading this book to begin with as I have no interest in ice skating. However once I’d tried the sample, I was hooked and purchased the book. Fargo acknowledges her debt to Taylor Jenkins Reid in terms of inspiration and style of writing and it shows in her work. One reviewer described this as Daisy Jones and The Six on ice. Whilst I initially thought that was a lazy synopsis, upon finishing The Favourites I tend to agree. Characters you actually want to invest in, with a lot of twists and turns along the way. My favourite novel of this year so far.
