Publisher Description
This is the classic written by C. S. Lewis as a dedication to his dear friend J. R. R. Tolkien. A masterpiece of satire, The Screwtape Letters has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comical, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C. S. Lewis presents to us the correspondences of the worldly-wise old devil, Screwtape, to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging and humorous account of temptation - and triumph over it - ever written.
This edition includes the hilarious and enlightening sequel, Screwtape Proposes a Toast, where the scene is in Hell at the annual dinner of the Tempters’ Training College for young Devils. Screwtape, who is the guest of honour, rises up to propose a toast.
‘The book is sparkling yet truly reverent, in fact a perfect joy, and should become a classic.’
- The Guardian
‘Excellent, hard-hitting, challenging, provoking.’

Kept me reading
I don’t know if the author is the subject here. A very thoughtful and readable book on how our lives are manipulated without our knowledge with some useful insights.
Something different!
This book - which had me in the dictionary and/or Wikipedia a considerable number of times - was a delight to read! I am left with questions and indeed, answers to questions I never knew I had! Somehow, this book has made me embrace my walk with JESUS that much harder. God bless author Lewis and all who dare to follow Christ!
