New York (AirGuide - Travel Security Update North America) Sep 5, 2010 International flights still carry unscreened cargo into U.S. The recent arrest of two Yemeni men demonstrates that U.S. officials are paying more attention to screening cargo on passenger jets that leave the country, writes Robert Mackey of The New York Times. A TSA official said 100% of the cargo loaded on passenger jets in the U.S. is screened at some point. However, Mackey also notes that cargo on jets flying into the U.S. is not required to be screened. The TSA said that it is continuing to improve cargo security on passenger flights originating in other countries and now requires screening for all high-risk cargo. Sep 1, 2010
