Rome is where the heart is.
Amelia Rose is burned-out from years of maintaining her public image as pop princess Rae Rose. Inspired by her favourite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome . . . Rome, Kentucky, that is.
Running the pie shop his grandmother left him, Noah Walker is busy enough as it is. But after finding Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he decides to let her stay in his guest room - on a very temporary basis, of course.
As the two of them grow closer, Noah starts to see a new side to Amelia - kind-hearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. Amelia may have to go back to her other life someday, but for now she's perfectly happy falling in love with the cozy small town she's found herself in . . . and her grumpy tour guide isn't half-bad either.
And now return to Rome, Kentucky, in Sarah Adams' latest rom-com Practice Makes Perfect!

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Adams (The Cheat Sheet) charms with this adorable mismatched romance between an Audrey Hepburn–obsessed pop star and a grumpy small-town baker. In urgent need of a break, pop star Rae Rose (real name Amelia) takes a cue from Roman Holiday and takes off for the nearest Rome she can find: Rome, Kentucky. Unfortunately, her beloved clunker of a car breaks down right as she rolls into town. Luckily, Noah Walker, the owner of a local pie shop, stops to help her out (though first he has to convince her he's not a murderer). When Amelia's reservation at the town's lone bed and breakfast falls through, she winds up staying in Noah's guest room. Thrown together, Noah learns to see the messy humanity behind Amelia's pop princess persona, and Amelia discovers the kind heart beneath Noah's gruff exterior. When someone close to Amelia betrays her trust, she finds her life at a crossroads—and there's no one she'd rather have as her rock than Noah. Amelia makes a complex and believable heroine and Noah is the ideal small-town hero. As light and catchy as a pop song, this sweet romance is sure to please.

Small town perfectness
It’s that time of the month again, doing a Buddy read with two of my favourite girls!
This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be checking out her others! This book is quite different from my norm, don’t get me wrong I love a good rom com as much as the other but it’s normally got some steam of some kind.. in this one however someone damn shut the door in my face 😂😂 though don’t get me wrong the build up and tension in this book is phenomenal!!
- slow burn
- Small town
- Grumpy sunshine
- Dual POV
- Forced proximity
Our two leads are Noah and Amelia, talk about opposites attract!! These two couldn’t be any further from the same and yet they are perfectly match whether they want to admit it or not! Amelia is taking a well deserved break from her pop star life (whether she’s meant to be or not) and just so happens to break down in Noah’s town.. well his front door to be exact 😂
Noah - my goodness is he the most perfect grump ever! I adore him, his plaid pajamas, the love he has for his family and his magic pancakes. He has been hurt before by a woman he thought was ‘the one’ so when Amelia comes crashing into his life he’s not prepared for it or how it will make him feel. He has locked his heart up, especially for a women who isn’t going to be in town for long. However no matter how hard he try’s he can’t ignore this lonely, spit fire of a woman.
Will he be able to let her in and risk it all again?
Amelia - aw my heart for her, she may seem to have it all but the things that matter most are the things she’s missing. She doesn’t have any friends, she feels like she’s drowning in loneliness and the bond she once shared with her mum is broke and she can’t understand why. She knows she shouldn’t have left, she feels like she’s letting people down but the music she once loved is suffering her. So when she finds herself in this small town full of quirky people and meddling neighbours, she can’t help but fall in love with it all- Noah included. But she won’t let him turn into Gregory Peck all while she escapes like Audrey Hepburn did.
Can she make it out of this small town with her heart in tact?
- kindhearted, quirky sisters
- James & Noah= Bromance
- Fires & pancakes
- And so much more!
