Publisher Description
Don’t miss this heart pounding apocalyptic romance from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott!
There’s only one person Dean Wallace wants to save from the end of the world: sunshine girl from across the street. She’s always smiling. Who knows, maybe she can teach him a thing or two about how to live? But saving her against her will is harder than he expected.
Astrid Hardy doesn’t know what to think when she wakes up in her hot neighbor’s basement. He says he wants to protect her from the deadly virus threatening to collapse society. But that sounds like paranoid conspiracy theory nonsense, and losing her sh*t seems like the correct response.
As they watch the downfall of the world play out online, hear approaching gunshots, and smell smoke from nearby burning buildings, it all starts to seem horribly realistic. With almost everyone they know dead, and law and order gone…how will they navigate this new world together?

Romance within apocalypse
I haven't read a post apocalyptic / pandemic romance before and I really enjoyed it. It had walking dead, 28 days later vibes with a little bit of Shawn of the dead humour, and I was enjoying them all.
One minute Astrid is in the store across from her apartment and the next she is waking up contained in her neighbours basement. Not quite how she saw surviving the pandemic and the threat of a deadly virus. Dean, her ex military neighbour, is only concerned with saving her from the virus and will do everything he can to achieve this.
While they can, they watch the world collapse around them, but once the gunfire and smoke get too close they have to leave and find somewhere else to live. However, with nearly all their friends and family dead, law and order missing from society they will have to learn to navigate this new world together and work out who they can trust.
There are some funny bits to this, sad bits and given the last few years, bits that make you think how lucky we are. One of my favourite bits in the book is whenever they need to go 'shopping' They basically take what they need, but this is also the same in bookshops, clothes shops, toyshops etc. I would love to be able to do this, apocalypse aside lol
I would love to see stories of the other characters and how they survived. I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do too.
