THEY DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY ACROSS THE POND...
When ex-FBI Agent Patrick Henderson calls in an 'X-Ray Sierra India' incident, the operator doesn't understand. He tells them to pass it up the chain till someone does.
That person is FBI Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds. Arriving snowbound Northern Wisconsin, she finds that a tornado has flattened half the town - and there's no sign of Henderson.
Things soon go from weird to worse, as neighbours report unsettling sightings, key evidence goes missing, and the snow keeps rising - cutting off the town, with no way in or out...
As the clues lead to the coldest of cold cases - a cursed expedition into the frozen wilderness - Reynolds follows a trail from the start of the American nightmare, to the horror that still lives on today...

Aaronovitch takes his signature blend of humor and horror across the pond in his gripping 10th Rivers of London urban fantasy (after 2022's Amongst Our Weapons). This time, the setting is Wisconsin, and the lead is FBI agent Kimberley Reynolds, who combines a frank acceptance of the reality of the supernatural with a quaint aversion to foul language. When D.C. headquarters receives a cryptic message from former agent Patrick Henderson about a situation with "unusual characteristics" ("the Bureau's euphemism for the weird, the supernatural and the genuine occult") in small-town Eloise, Wis., Reynolds is on the case. Upon her arrival, she finds that Henderson is missing—possibly abducted by something with antlers—and that his vanishing coincided with a rare "snow tornado" that targeted his home and devastated the town. As she investigates, Reynolds learns that, prior to his calling the FBI, Henderson had been researching a tragic 19th-century expedition heading north of Lake Superior rumored to have been led to their doom by a wolf spirit. Aaronovitch creates suspense with the question of which locals, if any, his heroine can trust, and the truth is all-the-more satisfying for being revealed only gradually. This supernaturally tinged mystery keeps readers on their toes.

A Rivers of London Novella
Expanding the weird magic police to the FBI, Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds takes on a case in frozen Wisconsin. Magic beasts, weird animal dismemberment, 200 year old expeditions and Native American “traditions” all make an appearance.
Enthralling story.
A jolly good read by Ben as always
I’ve read all of Ben’s books on Peter Grant and this one is just as delightful. Short of a spoiler, I’d love to see her develop some sort of magical path like Peter. Can’t wait for the next one!
Great read
Great read, but all too short!!! Looking forward to the next book👍
