In a near-future setting, a new form of digital storage allows people to upload and back up their memories. Mary Cotes, who relies on this technology starts experiencing "glitches"—tiny, crucial memories are missing or replaced with deeply unsettling, foreign recollections. They realize a digital parasite is feeding on the most important parts of their past, leaving them vulnerable to a terrible truth about their own identity.
