Every ten years in the village of Keal in England, an intimate ritual takes place. It has been practised in the quaint English parish since the 17th century. Established to ensure that enough of the local women became pregnant while their husbands were away fighting in the English Civil War, the event these days. The festival was traditionally called “The Day of Fruitfulness”, but for a decade or two now, it had been referred to by locals as “The Eldest & The Hottest”, due to the fact that the village’s geriatric would be paired up with a village beauty. This year, the selected couple are Glynn, aged eighty-six, and nineteen-wear-old local beauty, Amber. Read a detailed account of their encounter in the fifth instalment of DF Darke’s ambitious Age-Gap Annual.

It was a mile to Lord’s Wood, the ancient woodland where the ritual had taken place since 1643. Banners celebrating the tradition decorated the village. Residents applauded as the cart ferrying Amber trundled through the streets.
The cart arrived at the woods, and her two guardians helped her down from the cart. She caught them staring at her long, toned legs, at her lovely breasts in the low-cut gown. But she smiled at them, telling them with her eyes that she appreciated their looks.
They guided her along the path through the woods to the clearing. Up ahead, she could see a group of people. Among them, a very old man sat on a chair. Her heartbeat increased and something strange went through her loins.
That’s him, she thought.
The Guardians presented her to the group, which included The Bearer of News, who was actually Mr. Murdock, the chairman of the parish council and a local accountant.
“I welcome you, Amber, our Bride,” he said kindly.
She didn’t know what to do. She was nervous. She glanced at the old man in the chair, then drew her eyes away. She knew it was him; he’d be the one she’d be having sex with soon. He looked quite frail in his white shirt. He wore glasses and his white hair was thin, and his face was wrinkly. But his eyes had sparkled when he saw Amber, and he had audibly gasped.
