With Zola in England
Descrizione dell’editore
A truly charming account of Zola's one year stay in England when he fled France to avoid being arrested for the publication of "J'accuse" and his part in the Dreyfus Affair. The Vizetellys were Zola's publishers and friends. Living in public accommodations wasn't satisfactory, so Vizetelly arranged to rent a small house for Zola complete with English servants. Violette, Vizetelly's daughter who had been born in France and spoke excellent French, acted as Zola's housekeeper.
